How to use your PASS Gallery / Texas Wedding & Portrait Photographer

I’ve had some clients ask me exactly how to use PASS, so I wanted to share this how-to guide with everyone!!

PASS is an online gallery specifically for photographers who like to shoot & share instantly with their clients. It gives clients instant access to their high resolution images where you can download them immediately in high resolution straight to your computer or iPhone! What’s also great about PASS is that you can instantly share with your family and friends your favorite image(s) from your session with me!

After your session with BLISS GOODLOE | PHOTOGRAPHER, you will receive a link to an online PASS gallery for you to show off your images. This gallery is the easiest way for you to share with your friends and family.

OPENING YOUR GALLERY

To open your gallery, simple click on the “View Photos” button in the email or Facebook message you receive so it can open in your web browser.

When the gallery opens, you should see something like the example below:

LOGGING IN

The next thing that you should do after opening your gallery is log in. In the top left corner of the screen, you’ll see 3 horizontal lines in the shape of a square. Click on that to access the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. At the bottom of this menu, click “Login”.

You must log in with your Facebook account or email address that has been given access to the gallery.

VIEWING

The images that you see when the gallery first opens up are my favorite images from the session, but there may be more for you to see! Just click on the 3 horizontal lines again to access the menu and select a different collection to view.

If you’d like to view a specific image, click on it to expand into a wider screen. You can also filter through your images this way by clicking on the grey arrows on the left or right of the screen.

To get back to the full gallery, just click on the arrow in the top left corner of the screen.

FAVORITES & SHARING

Once you have logged in and are viewing your images, you can mark your favorites with a star and create your own collection. When you expand an image after clicking on it, you will see a new menu slide out from the right hand side of the screen. Click on the little star to favorite an image or click on any of the social media icons to share the image to Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest!!

DOWNLOADING

For portrait clients: When you’re ready to download your favorites, it is super simple. You can download individual images by clicking on the specific photo you want, then clicking the “Download Photo” button (an arrow pointing downwards) that’s below the Email button.

For wedding clients: You get the option of downloading all of your images at once! You can do this by opening the left-hand menu (clicking on the top left button that looks like 3 horizontal lines) and click on “Download All”. You can specify if you’d like to download only your favorites from your collection or the entire gallery of images.

Once you click the “Download All” button, the gallery will package the images as a .zip file for you. It will notify you when the files is ready for you to download, or you can simple wait. Eventually you’ll see a “Download” button which will allow you to save the images to your computer.

ORDERING PRINTS:

This feature will be coming soon to PASS!!! Make sure you go like your favorite images from your gallery and go back to them later when printing becomes available!!

I really hope this PASS tutorial has helped! Sometimes new things can be tricky, but I know PASS is the best thing for my clients and myself! Not only does it get the images to you very quickly, but you’re not having to wait for a CD in the mail that you’ll probably sit somewhere and forget about. You can simply and easily share images through social media and who doesn’t love that?!

Thanks and I hope this helped answer some questions!!

1. Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m 30 some years old, a wife, and a mother of a 2 year old little boy named Trey.  I am originally from Michigan but have hopped around to live in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York. My husband got me back to Michigan (kicking and screaming – kidding!) where both our families are from. I went to school for architecture and love all things design related.

2. Apart from creating things, what do you do?

My day job is an architectural and interior designer…does that count as creating for this? If not, I like watching my son be crazy and enjoying the outdoor in the short summer I have in Michigan.

3. Whatʼs the most important question a customer/client should ask you when considering purchasing from you?

The size of a crown. I’m working on making them adjustable but as of now they are not. The way the crown sits on someone’s head is different. Some people want them on top and some people want them to sit just above the ears. If they are not a unique crown (usually meaning there is an antique piece on it and only one was made) I can make the crown any size they want.

4. Whatʼs the most memorable custom order youʼve created?

I sent two orders to the same photographer in Australia. Multiple crowns in each order. She requested sizes for each age (I think there were 8 crowns in total, 5 different sizes if I’m remembering correctly) which is fine, however, the different lace styles don’t have patterns that cleanly cut at similar sizes AND I was trying to specify to each age rather than each age group. I usually aim for a one size fits age group A, B, or C, etc. Needless to say the sizes were all over the place but luckily she was one of my amazing clients and made lemonade out of lemons. They all worked and she came up with some great photos. I won’t customize to specific ages again though ;)

5. What would be the title of your memoir and why?

Good Times (not the show). Lame right?  I learned the hard way life is too short. There is that saying that “if you love what you do then you never have to work a day in your life”. That’s not easy to attain but I try to cut out the crap if I can. Misery is no fun so I try to avoid it.

6. Where does your inspiration come from?

All over. Architecture, fashion, furniture, antiques, blogs, Pinterest – the usuals. Sometimes I simply have an antique piece of lace that I like and I just work with whatever materials are in front of me, putting together complimentary pieces. The goal is not to make something super ugly. Some days I miss my goal and they get tossed. Slight punch to the ego but it’s nothing a glass of wine can’t fix.

7. What does handmade mean to you?

Blood, sweat, blisters, callus’, and whining to myself. Maybe a four letter word mumbled here and there.

8. Who has been the most influential person for your business?

One of my best friends lived across the street when we were young then she moved away and we grew up etc., etc. Enter MySpace. Yes I said MySpace (assuming most people think of my space like I think of a Zack Morris cell phone). I looked her up. She had photos of her cute son that I loved. Found out she took them and HAD to have her do my kids. I don’t think I was even married at the time but it turned out that’s what happened (and yes I loved my pictures!). She knew I refinished furniture and asked if I rented my furniture. I didn’t but then I did. I added PROPS to my company and found that there weren’t many crowns for boys when I wanted one for my rental offerings. So I made one…

9. How would you describe your creative process?

Haphazard. Organized chaos. There is usually a method to my madness though.

10. If you could peek inside the studio of any artist, designer or craftsman (dead or alive), who would it be?

Frank Gehry

11. What handmade possession do you most cherish?

Are Jimmy Choo’s handmade?? I got a pair for my wedding. The one and only day anyone in my life would allow my to spend a crazy amount of money on a pair of shoes. They make me feel special when I wear them. Sometimes I click the heels 3 times. Other than those I can’t think of anything handmade.

12. How do you get out of your creative ruts?

Divert my attention to another project laying around my house (garage, basement, living room, bedroom). I always come full circle but sometimes a project has to sit for 8 months…to multiple years…my husband loves that [that's sarcasm].

13. Where would you like to be in ten years?

In a large nice studio!!!! And not having my husband lecture me for not cleaning up my mess or cluttering our house with furniture he’s not a fan of.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a single mom of two rambunctious little boys and my life evolves around theirs. The boys and I moved from Austin, Texas to Southern California four years ago and we couldn’t be happier. I grew up in Alaska and loved the mountains and lakes and active outdoor lifestyle. A few decades later, I moved to Bali, Indonesia which is an amazingly beautiful island and culture. Running my export business in Bali exposed me to the myriad of talented craftsmen on the Island. There are so many creative entrepreneurs making wonderfully creative products it’s quite inspiring. I started testing my product development skills those years in Bali, and haven’t quit. The leather roll-up travel backgammon games I make, I started making in Bali in 1998. They remain a consistent favorite, and this year I’m featuring them in beach glass blue and green. I’m thankful to again be living near the beach as it keeps me feeling healthy, inspired and creative. I feel like I’m where I want to be.

2. Apart from creating things, what do you do?

My boys are only five and six, so when I’m not working, I’m spending my time with them. We spend time at the beach, Legoland, great parks and working in our garden. Next year I’ll introduce them to camping. We have a large vegetable and citrus garden we tend, plant seasonally, and harvest. I love incorporating fresh produce into my cooking. I enjoy entertaining and often end up hosting impromptu dinners for up to 15 (mostly kids!).

3. Whatʼs the most important question a customer/client should ask you when considering purchasing from you?

If a customer likes something in my shop, they should ask if I have additional items like them. I have an extensive collection of Alaskan art and vintage military items and only have a handful of items listed. I also collect new items regularly, but don’t get them on my site very quickly.

4. Whatʼs the most memorable custom order you’ve created?

The most memorable order I’ve sent out is one preparing a dozen backgammon games for an executive’s Christmas list. I felt such pride in my product and had a great time preparing them to be gifted. The best thing about this order, is that he had received one of my backgammon games as a gift himself, about six months before. That’s a wonderful compliment!

5. What would be the title of your memoir and why?

Raising Gentlemen. I love my little boys with all my heart. They crack me up and keep me constantly amused with their rough, raucous, and sometimes raunchy antics. While it’s great fun to raise boys, (and a lot of work), I think it’s extremely important to make sure the little people we are putting out in this world are respectful and kind. My boys are kind, loving and polite. They know to hold a door open for others, use good manners and to treat elders with particular respect. I see too many kids who treat their parents terribly, let alone elders and classmates.

6. Where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration comes from all over. I recently started a small business, Wild Violetta Ltd., creating natural aromatherapy products for the bath, body and home, specializing in organic shea butter and essential oils. I love working with fresh, healing products and have an endless list products I’d love to create. When I see recycled products I like to play with different ideas of how I can incorporate them into my backgammon games or up cycle them into fun useful products. Inspiration is endless, my time is not!

7. What does handmade mean to you?

Handmade is something that has had hands-on personal attention.

8. Who has been the most influential person for your business?

I would have to say that my sisters are the most influential people in my business. Both of my sisters are extremely creative and talented. I sell my California sister’s pottery on my exnomad etsy shop, and my other sister in Alaska runs a very successful retail florist. I ask them questions and for advice regularly.

9. How would you describe your creative process?

As a single mom, my mind runs in circles, often colliding into a creative burst. Working on one project, leads to creative ideas for other projects I have. I have to stay focused long enough to get through one project, without being distracted by an idea for another project. Things have to happen quickly, so if a creative idea doesn’t get written down or acted on immediately, it might be lost for a while.

10. If you could peek inside the studio of any artist, designer or craftsman (dead or alive), who would it be?

I would love to step back into the studio Salvador Dali. His art and life were so wild, he must have had a fabulous studio and amazing stories to share.

11. What handmade possession do you most cherish?

My grandma, Violetta (whom I named my business Wild Violetta Ltd. after) would crochet these wonderful slipper booties. As she got older, they got longer and longer. I still have my favorites which fit perfectly, but are wearing thin, and the floppy long pairs which I will forever cherish. She also crocheted beautiful baby blankets which were set aside for when my sister’s and I had children. Sadly, my boys never got to meet grandma Violetta, but they have a special keepsake from an amazing woman.

12. How do you get out of your creative ruts?

There’s no time for ruts. But if I’m not feeling terribly creative, I’m always behind in administrative stuff which has to get done. That’s certain to shove me in the direction of creating again.

13. Where would you like to be in ten years?

In ten years I would hope to be established enough that I could take chunks of time away to take my boys on Holidays around the world. I’d love to be collecting great treasures from our travels and putting them into a retail boutique we open. And of course, we’d still be going to play at the beach.
